ICHIBanzai'09 Update 10: No Art Competition, ICHIBanzai Escapade Rules and Regulations

Hello guys =DD

ICHIBanzai'09 is just about a week from now. I've begun to feel the thrill and excitement already =) How about you guys? XD Remember to keep your busy schedule FREE on the 6th and 7th of June 2009 to attend ICHIBanzai'09!! XD

Alright. Here's some updates:

First of all, I would like to clarify that there will be NO ART COMPETITION this year around. Do not confuse yourself with last year's post regarding art competition. The details were for last year's ICHIBanzai and not to be confused with this year's. Soooo sorry for those who work hard to finish their artwork and to send it to us. Worry not, your effort won't be in vain as we will give you some ICHIBanzai goodies =D

However, to those who are working on their artwork now, soooo sorry again but do halt all your progress for there won't be any art competition in this year's ICHIBanzai.

Alright. Now let's move on to the next agenda =)

I'm sure that for some of you who have been to last year's ICHIBanzai, you probably will remember that we had a live action game back in Level 7 of the KDU called the Fallen Academy. Well, this year, there won't be anymore haunted schools and zombie students but instead, we will have the ICHIBANZAI ESCAPADE!!

The ICHIBanzai Escapade is a parody of the famous Amazing Race reality game show. Yup. Your eyes ain't playing tricks on you. It IS a race. We will put in our own twist to the race and we ensure you, it will be a race like you never seen before =D

To keep it mysterious, I shall not reveal the exact gameplay of the race for now =D Instead, here's the rules and regulations:

For this year's ICHIBanzai'09, there will be a PS3 games competition that will be held on both days of the event. The 2 games featured in the competition are the Soul Calibur 4 and the Street Fighter 4.

ICHIBanzai'09 is just around the corner, and I hope you guys are as fired up for it as I do =)

This year around, ICHIBanzai'09 will feature the very first Yukata Dressing Competition. Instead of having only Cosplay Competition, this time there will be a Yukata Dressing Competition which caters to those that might be dressed in colorful yukata but however are unable to participate in Cosplay Competition due to no character background.

ICHIbanzai'09 Update 04: Karaoke Competition's Rules and Regulations

Sorry for the lack of updates in the blog for the past few days. But rest assured, the plannings for ICHIbanzai'09 is still on the way! XD

Now, for those with amusing voices out there, here's your chance to show everyone your talent! Yup, you're right! It's the KARAOKE COMPETITION!!! *claps*

Below are the rules and regulations for the karaoke competition:

1) There will be 2 round for this competition, Premier round and Final round. Contestants for Premier round will be 25-30 maximum, while only 10 contestants will be selected for the Final round.

2) Each contestant is required to choose maximum 2 songs from the title list provided. Group performances are not allowed.

3) If the contestants choose to repeat the same song, he/she are only allowed to sing maximum twice for each song. Songs which being chosen is unchangable once it's confirmed at the registration booth.

4) Contestants are allowed to bring their own chosen song which are not applied in the list below, but only karaoke/instrument version in MP3 format are allowed in the competition.

5) Contestants are required to apply their chosen song in CD copy at the registration counter before the competition starts. Afterwards, contestant will not be allowed to register their song in the competition.

6) Candidates who's absent while being called up during the competition will be disqualified. Candidates who's absent during the final round will be disqualified as well.

7) Maximum duration for each song allowed in the competition should not be more than 5 minutes. Song genres which are allowed in the competition can only be Anime/Games/J-Pop/J-Rock.

*** Note: During the competition, any instruments or extra equipments which the candidates brought up as part of their stage performances are allowed.

The karaoke song list is yet to be finalized, but I assure you that it will be up by this week. Even after it's up, the list will be updated regularly so do check out on it from time to time =D

The participation fees for the karaoke competition will be RM5.

This year, there will be 3 different awards for the cosplay competition; the Best Cosplayer award, the Best Dressed award, and the People's Choice award. Similar to last year, the competition will be held on BOTH days, and the each of the awards will be given on both days as well.

The booth registration is officially open NOW!!! XD

Want to showcase your talented artworks? Want to display your vast collection of anime figurines? Wish to enlighten people with your magnificent delicacies?

Want and wish no more. Make it a reality!!

Open your booth at this year's ICHIbanzai'09 and witness your dreams and desires come true.

The fees for opening a booth is as follows:

One day: RM30
Two days: RM50

The measurement of the long white table for each booth is 30 inches X 60 inches. If you wish to have additional smaller tables, do let us know and we might be able to get you one. Contact us for more details on payment methods ^_^

Similar to last year, there will be three different categories of booths. Therefore, be sure to state which category you are under XD

AT LAST!! The long awaited ICHIbanzai'09 is DRAWING CLOSE !! The dates for this year's ICHIbanzai will fall on the 6th and 7th of June 2009. See how close it is?? XD

Following the success of last year's ICHIbanzai, we, the AMGC club of KDU Penang, will bring forward the anime convention to a whole new level. Most features from last year's ICHIbanzai will be retained, but we will add in loads of new stuffs to ensure that those who visited last year's ICHIbanzai will have a whole new refreshing experience =)

The venue for the event is still the same. It will be held at KDU College Penang Campus, which is situated in Anson Road, Penang. If you are wondering how much would the entrance fees be, well I can tell you this: It's ZERO. NIL. ZILCH. NOTHING. It's absolutely FREE!

The event will start off at 11 am for BOTH days, and ends at 7 pm and 9 pm for the 1st and 2nd day respectively.

The list of events to be held are still under pending, but once they are properly listed, I will post them up here! XD So be sure to check out the ICHIbanzai blog regularly XD

Update 14 - Important updates!

Hi Everyone!

As most of you know, ICHIbanzai is just tomorrow (7-8-08)!!!!!

It starts at 11am! Do make it in time yeah! Admission is FREE!

The venue of the PS2 Games Competition is at LEVEL 2 Lecture Theatre 1. Initially it was Level 1 Lecture Theatre 1. Sorry for the mistake!!!

There are some updates for the Games Competition but we will update the participants upon participation.

Many things will be happening tomorrow (please refer to the timing & location)

Oh! For the Live Action RPG, the 'school' will be known as the Fallen Academy. For the Storyline and the How To Play -> You all can get it when you join the game.

If any of you need assistance during the event, don't hesitate to look for the AMGC committee members (cosplayers / personnels with the AMGC logo badge).

Bring your friends and family along! We will be anticipating your presence!!!

Update 12: Karaoke Competition [UPDATED]

1st stage:
7th June 2008

Registration time: 11:30am - 1:45pm
All you need to do is choose a song and sing your heart out! :D the judges will comment on your singing and announce who will get to the final round!

2nd stage:
8th June 2008

FINALS. Sing a song of your own choice. ANY song is eligible, as long as it is from an anime, J-pop, j-rock band.

If you get into the finals, please hand in your cd with the song of your choice to the registration booth by June 8th 2008 by 1:45pm. If you were to choose a song from the list above, then please inform us at the booth by then too. Also, if that's the case, XD you won't be needed to hand us a cd.

and just to minus all the confusions out there, the songs provided are just instrumental/karaoke songs, we don't provide screen with scrolling lyrics, nono lol. the reason as to why it's called karaoke is because we provide a list of songs for you to choose from and the songs are all minus one.

so that means you'll have to learn the lyrics by yourself. we're so sorry for all the confusions we've caused!

if you're wondering, the props and etc isn't much of a big deal. take it as a "bonus marks", :) if you're not confident in your singing, those extra 20% marks may help in giving you a higher chance of winning.

to answer some of your questions, no we haven't finalize the rules and regulations for the cosplay competition :) but here's what's confirmed so far. ~~it will be held on the second day of the event, and you'll have to register yourself on that day itself with a picture of whom you're cosplaying. we may have a group cosplay competition too!~~

;) also. we have quite a lot of interesting booths opening in ICHIbanzai. if you're looking forward to open a booth, be sure to act fast now as the deadline is tomorrow!

to answer some of your questions, we haven't confirmed what games it would be for our competition yet. but we'll be sure to post it up ASAP once we've confirmed so! we're so sorry!

as for other competitions (including cosplay, wasabi eating etc etc), it'll be quite a hassle to register online :) so the registrations will all be done on that day itself at our counter. we'll be posting up details regarding all the competitions next.

“Beneath the Surface”

Alright folks, it’s art competition time! The theme for this contest is ‘Beneath the Surface’. You are urged to interpret that as loosely and as originally as you wish, but remember—all entries MUST somehow take the theme into consideration!

Since the purpose of this art competition is that you are judged according to your originality and your interpretation of the theme, which means that no matter what your level of skill is, you are encouraged to participate, because everyone has an equal chance of winning~!

The contest is divided into two:

CATEGORY A: Original Art
[100% original characters and designs]

CATEGORY B: Fan Art
[Characters from any published anime, manga or game series or combination of series.]

CLOSING DATE: May 26

Rules

This contest is open to EVERYONE above the age of 13, excluding the members of the AMGC committee and/or the ICHIBanzai 08’organising team.

2) NO copying! You must create 100% of your entry!

This is the Cardinal rule of this competition (after eligibility!), and we cannot stress it enough. Even if you are submitting an entry for category B, all aspects of your artwork except for your characters MUST be 100% by you. This means:

· NO copying/heavy referencing. If you use a picture for reference, make sure you change it enough so it belongs uniquely to you.

· NO tracing.

· NO photo edits or paint-overs

· Collaborations ARE allowed, but all artists must consent to participating (and prizes will be shared!)

· Basically, no lifting anything off DeviantArt and trying to pass it off as your own, guys. It’s just not on, and we’ll catch you somehow. Trust us.

3) NO sensitive political/racial/religious issues or sexual situations. Brief nudity is allowed, but keep it to a minimum. Basically, nothing above a PG-13 rating.

4) Art can be done in any style or medium. Digital is preferred, but traditional art is also encouraged. It can be in color or black or white, and in any art style you want (but please don’t give us stick figures unless you have a valid reason!) Drawings can also be comic strip format, humor, drama, horror and so on.

5) ANY number of entries are allowed per person.

6) Stick to the theme. If your interpretation is so obscure, you’re worried the judges will not be able to see any connection, please don’t hesitate to leave a note in your entry form~!

Submissions

Any image that does not meet these specifications will be ignored.

· JPG or GIF file formats only.
· Pics must be less than 2000 pixels in width & height.

We don’t mean to be picky, but we’d love it if you could take the time to resize your images so the judges don’t have to deal with dozens of gigantic pictures jumping out at us everywhere.

· Please make sure the images are the right-side up.

Please, for the love of tea, do not send us pictures that are rotated the wrong way or upside down.

Judging

Like we’ve mentioned above, this isn’t your regular art competition. This is not a contest just to see ‘who draws the best’, but a search for the picture that shows the most originality, and which manages to form an emotional connection with us. Technical skill is only one of the many criteria, and it is possible for any creative artist to win an award regardless of technical skill level.

The panel of judges will be announced soon. ;) along with the prizes!

Winners will be notified via email, and prizes will be awarded during the festival closing ceremony (8th June)

UPDATE 1: ICHIbanzai says hello!

here's an update! the date and time are as of below:

7th june 'o8: 11am - 7pm
8th june 'o8: 11am - 9pm

lol at KDU Penang Campus, of course :D

and also, unlike any other anime conventions, we decided that the admission is FREE.

D: OMG FREE.

now this is the reason why. because we're more of a festival than a convention, that's why. there will be a coupon booth situated at the front where you can buy coupons to use for the games and activities available there.

so what can you expect from ICHIbanzai? :D glad you asked. these are a few things to expect:

live role-playing game
cosplay cafe, bento stalls and many more!

XD loads of other games and prizes!
